1. Introduction
Welcome to SplitSmart, a mobile application operated by Celestara (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of SplitSmart (the “App”). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App immediately.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using SplitSmart, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
3. User Accounts
To access SplitSmart’s features, you may need to create an account using Firebase Authentication. You are fully responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and all activity under your account. You agree to notify us of unauthorized access immediately.
Celestara is not responsible for losses arising from unauthorized access caused by your failure to secure your device or password.
4. Use of the App
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
- You may use the App for personal expense tracking and group sharing.
- You must not misuse the App, including hacking, data scraping, reverse engineering, or exploiting bugs.
- You must not upload harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content (including fraudulent transactions or fake receipts).
- You agree not to impersonate other users or provide false information.
5. Expense & Group Data
When you create a group or log an expense, certain information (such as your display name, amounts, who paid, and share allocations) may be visible to other group members. By using the App, you acknowledge that expense details shared within a group are visible to all members of that group as part of normal functionality.
6. AI Features
SplitSmart may provide optional AI-powered features including receipt scanning, automatic expense extraction, and AI-generated insights. These features may process receipt images, extracted text, and other data to provide results.
- AI outputs may not be 100% accurate; you must review results before saving expenses.
- Receipt images may be processed by trusted AI service providers.
- You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of data before sharing with group members.
Using AI features is optional. If you do not want receipt images processed by AI, you may manually enter expenses.
7. Premium Subscriptions & Purchases
Certain features may require a subscription or one-time purchase via Google Play Billing. Prices, durations, and features will be clearly displayed within the App.
- All payments, renewals, and refunds are handled by Google Play and are subject to Google’s policies.
- We do not store payment card numbers or full billing details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your Google Play account settings.
- If your subscription expires, premium features (including higher AI usage limits) may be restricted.
8. Intellectual Property
All trademarks, logos, graphics, text, code, and design within the App (“Content”) are the property of Celestara. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or reuse the Content without our written permission.
9. Third-Party Services
SplitSmart integrates services such as Firebase Authentication, Firebase Firestore, AI processing providers, and Google Play Billing. These partners have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party service outages, errors, or data losses resulting from third-party systems.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- That the App will be error-free or uninterrupted;
- That data will always sync or save correctly;
- That AI-generated results will always be accurate.
Your use of the App is at your sole risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Celestara is not liable for:
- Any losses arising from inaccurate expense entries, AI results, or user mistakes;
- Financial disagreements between group members;
- Unauthorized access caused by your device or account security;
- Loss of data due to third-party service disruptions;
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.
12. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time (via in-app options if available) or by contacting us at contact-us@celestara.ca.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or misuse the App in any way.
13. Modifications to the App or Terms
We may update SplitSmart or revise these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms. Material updates may be announced within the App.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
